The arrival of teleworking because of the pandemic, has meant that companies have to adapt their technological infrastructure one day to another and just have resources to face it. Education, private companies, health or trade are some of the sectors that have suffered the most the precipitated digitalization process to continue with the work activity. This has served to see that most companies were not prepared for a digitalization process and that is why the Government of Spain will finance the digital transformation of companies with 200 million euros.
Digitalization of companies, the most important in times of crisis
In recent months, we have proven that in Spain companies were not really prepared to face a situation like the one we have lived. Professional activity has been very affected in all sectors, but especially in SMEs. For many of the small and medium -sized companies, the stop by the alarm has been a drastic reduction of workforce, large economic losses or even the closure of many of these companies.
This whole situation has put in view of all the need for the digitalization of the activity of many sectors, but companies are not prepared to face a digital transformation process. For this reason, the Government has launched several measures to help SMEs in financing the purchase of material and services for digitalization , meet the economic needs of its activity and ultimately, promote facilities for non -face -to -face work.
Royal Decree-Law 8/2020, of March 17, indicates that a credit line of the Official Credit Institute (ICO) valued at 200 million euros for the next two years . It also highlights support measures to SMEs with the Accelera SME program, from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, with the aim of collaborating with the private sector of support for SME for the short and medium term through the Red.es entity.
The program accelerates SME for digitalization
This whole plan for the digitalization of companies has been promoted because of the economic impact caused by COVID-19. For its part, the Royal Decree highlights the creation of the Pyme Accelera Plan with which in addition to the collaboration with the private sector to support the small and medium enterprises, it will collaborate with the Chamber of Commerce through the Program Accelera SME-Totento and it is proposed to help in advice and training to SMEs in terms of digitalization.
Specifically, this SME accelerates plan proposes:
- Support measures in advice and training to accelerate the digitalization of small and medium enterprises . It consists of the creation of a portal in Red.es to inform all the resources available to give a solution to the teleworking. Also, the implementation of digital transformation offices in collaboration with the Chambers of Commerce and other public and private entities for personalized advice to SMEs and accompaniment in the digitalization process
- Measures to create technological solutions for the digitalization of SMEs . Aid to boost Spanish digital companies to leadership in R&D, with the aim of supporting the generation of solutions and technologies to improve digitalization processes and the creation of advanced technological products and services.
- Financial support measures to digitize SMEs . Financing with ICO credit for the purchase or leasing of equipment and services, solutions to teleworking with the objective of digitalization.
